A lot of students have  doubts on how to prepare Indian Culture for GS Paper 1.

Let us have a look at the  questions from indian culture  in the last 4 years .

Mains 2013 GS Paper 1
1.Though not very useful from the point of view of a connected political history of South India, the Sangam literature portrays the social and economic conditions of its time with remarkable vividness. Comment.

Mains 2014 GS Paper 1
1.To what extent has the urban planning and culture of the Indus Valley Civilization provided inputs to the present day urbanization? Discuss.

2.Gandhara sculpture owed as much to the Romans as to the Greeks. Explain.

3.Taxila university was one of the oldest universities of the world with which were associated a number of renowned learned personalities of different disciplines. Mains 2015 GS Paper 1
1.The ancient civilization in Indian sub-continent differed from those of Egypt, Mesopotamia and Greece in that its culture and traditions have been preserved without a breakdown to the present day. Comment.

4 step process to prepare for Indian culture for Mains

Step 1 – Go to NIOS for material on Indianculture .It is better than ccrt website and Spectrum.


Step 2 – Modules 1 to Module 5 are important for UPSC preparation.
(You can ignore certain topics like Indian languages and literature -part II)

Step 3 – Make notes of 7 -10 points for each topic during first reading .

Step 4 – Revise and revise again .
